Functional Well-being is a holistic breathing and orofacial myology (aka orofacial myofunctional therapy) practice. We help clients restore their basic functions of life such as breathing, resting, sleeping, talking, chewing, and swallowing.
Our mission is to educate about breathing and oral function and to help clients establish proper function of the muscles of the face, head and neck. Proper function includes functional nasal breathing, tongue resting passively on the roof of the mouth, lips sealed at rest in a relaxed way, teeth lightly apart, chewing on both sides of the jaw with lips together and swallowing without the tongue pushing against the teeth (tongue thrust).

Janna is trained as an Orofacial Myofunctional Therapist through the Graduate School of Behavioral Sciences and as Breathing Educator in Buteyko method in its original language by Professor Buteyko’s student, Dr Mikhailo Khrustavka, MD, in his home country. Janna has worked in her chosen field since 2010 and attended many courses and conferences in functional breathing, orofacial myofunctional therapy, airway and facial growth and development, temporomandibular joint dysfunction (aka TMD or jaw joint dysfunction), sleep, and tethered oral tissues (aka tongue ties / lip ties) in order to provide the best solutions and care for her clients. Janna develops customized programs so that her clients can achieve their specific desired goals, be it to assist in addressing mouth breathing, chronic nasal congestion, abnormal breathing during sleep (such as snoring, noisy or irregular breathing), jaw discomfort, problems with tongue posture/function (such as tongue thrust or low tongue posture), or thumb/finger/pacifier sucking and other oral habits that can cause the misalignment of teeth and deformed jaws. Janna is very passionate about helping her clients succeed to improve their quality of life.
Janna uses educational capnography to support her clients’ change of breathing behaviour and a wide variety of tools used in oral myofunctional therapy, such as intra-oral myofunctional appliances (e.g. Myomunchee) and other techniques and instruments to assist in restoring oral posture and function. Janna is also a mother to 2 young children herself which enables her to have good rapport with both parents and children. She has great success with getting even the youngest and shyest child to cooperate with her programs due to her kind, fun and gentle nature.
Giovana Carneiro
Giovana is a myofunctional therapist with background in dentistry and a love for integrative health. She graduated from the University of São Paulo in Brazil as a general dentist, where she worked on published scientific projects and explored a range of complementary therapies like acupuncture for dental treatments.
As part of her dental education, Giovana studied early preventative pre-orthodontic treatments, utilizing expansion and other various early intervention techniques to effectively guide cranio-facial development during the child’s active growth years, a practice commonly adopted in Brazil.

After practicing general dentistry for two years, she moved to the Gold Coast, Australia and discovered myofunctional therapy and connection between breathing and oral function, while she apprenticed with a holistic airway dentist, Dr Shehab Faragallah at the Gold Coast Holistic Dental Care for two years, before taking a deep dive into motherhood.
Giovana is continually motivated by the link between oral health and overall wellness. By refining her skills through mentorship with Janna Kremez, she now merges her dental expertise, curiosity for natural therapies, and compassionate care to tackle issues related to breathing, sleep, and oral function. Giovana provides online sessions to clients aged 7 and older.
